Baker has completed its third and final scholarship day with 166 potential Baker students attending.

The university has awarded $166,000 to the potential students, which is significantly less than last year’s total award money of $418,500.

Jeanne Mott, director of financial aid, said the decrease in award money is due to fewer students attending scholarship day because of the changes in academic foundation scholarship criteria.

“The total offered is a combination of fewer attendees and the reduction in the amount of the award from $1,500 to $1,000 per student,” Mott said.

This year scholarship day interviews were run slightly different. In the past, potential students have been evaluated on a rubric, but this year admissions decided to get rid of the rubric.

Daniel McKinney, director of admissions, said the students were matched up with someone in their academic department and then had more of a conversation about their future at Baker.
