Since it began six years ago, Baker’s Speech Choir’s membership has grown dramatically.
With the increase of members, the Baker University Speech Choir decided to add officers to help in further improving the group.
The idea to have officers came from the students themselves, Susan Emel, professor of mass media and communication, said. Emel sees having students take on more leadership positions as a help to her.
“It is nice getting help with tasks that we do,” Emel said. “Students have more of a voice in a leadership role.”
Senior Josh Morgan was selected as the president.
“There will be more structure having officers,” Morgan said. “There is a shift in the workload, and helps the group be a little more responsible.”
Other officers include seniors Darcey Nance and Justin Whittaker.
