Broken light coverings and trashed bulletin boards are a part of vandalism that’s taken place on Baker University’s Baldwin City campus this year.
Teresa Clounch, associate dean of students, began her third year at Baker in August and believes there are more incident reports this year than in years past.
“It’s frustrating and disrespectful,” junior Christen Dinkel, senior resident assistant, said. “We don’t like to write up reports and especially when it’s something really stupid.”
When vandalism occurs, a resident assistant writes an incident report, which is given to Baker security. They also investigate the situation, but if no one tells them who has done the vandalism, signs are posted stating the entire hall can be charged for damages.
Those who vandalize face the highest conduct violation in the student handbook. Also, vandals can face a conduct warning, probation or fines.
