Residence Life Coordinator Donna Adams said she thinks of Schneck as a mom.
“She is very open and honest,” Adams said. “The first time I met her, she was filled with so much fun and life. It was cool.”
Adams isn’t the only person who thinks Schneck is helpful.
“She is the first person I call, whether it’s computer wise or anything else. If I have questions she is there and helpful,” Jason Smethers, resident life coordinator, said. “Dee and I are together when the fight song is sung at the football games, and I remember one time I was in Kentucky, and she called me from the game saying that they were playing my song. It was funny and fun at the same time.”
Schneck said she enjoys having Baker students stop by her office. She said she considers them her Baker kids.
“I love my Baker students,” Schneck said. “They are what make Baker, Baker. That’s why I have adopted 30 to 40 kids. I still keep up with those who have graduated, though.”
Schneck said her job description has changed over the years she has been at Baker.
“In earlier years at Baker I was an application processor and then a recruitment coordinator, and then I came to computer services as phone help desk,” Schneck said. “I love my job now. I love dealing with the faculty, and most importantly the students. I’ve learned a huge amount of things about technology in the last six months just by reading, learning and doing.”
While Schneck loves her job, she also enjoys her free time.
“I love hanging out with my kids, and I also love to cook, especially baking, and going to the football games when they are in season,” Schneck said.
In the future Schneck plans to continue to working at Baker’s help desk because of her love for it and the students.
“I don’t have a long-term plan,” Schneck said. “I’ll still be here even when Ally has graduated.”
Adams said she is glad Schneck plans to stay at Baker.
“She is a phenomenal asset to Baker students and faculty,” Adams said. “They just know that they can count on her.”
