Baker University’s music department tried some new approaches to the 79th Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers Sunday at the First United Methodist Church.
In the past, the concert choir, university singers, chamber singers and orchestra performed holiday songs for audiences.
However, this being his first year in charge of Vespers, Director of Choral Activities Matthew Potterton brought some fresh ensembles, songs and performances to the concert.
Included in this year’s lineup was senior Rachel Kilian’s bluegrass band, a percussion ensemble, a brass ensemble and an African carol. Also added to the performance was a song the choir sang while accompanied by the orchestra.
