Newly elected Student Activities Council and Mungano officers will be keeping busy with a number of planned events in weeks before summer.

Director of Student Activities Cassie Gilmore said elections were held right after spring break in order to elect new officers.

“I honestly cannot say enough good things about our new officers,” she said. “Brandi Reese, our new SAC president, is really amazing. She is always the first one to show up to an event and the last one to leave. She has so much dedication to her office.”

Sophomore Landon McLerran said he was excited about helping the campus with more participation and enthusiasm of events.

“I like to have an impact on students here at Baker,” McLerran said. “I think the students need to get more involved around here, and I am super happy and excited about all of the events SAC is going to be putting on and that I get to help with them.”

Gilmore said she is happy to see so many men getting involved this year than in past years.

“I think having more guys on the SAC board will help increase attendance for a lot of the upcoming events,” she said. “I am also happy that there are a lot of underclassmen of freshman and sophomores that have stepped up to take offices. That way, they will be able to continue their leadership skills throughout the remainder of years at Baker.”

Sophomore Di-Tu Dissassa, newly elected Mungano president and treasurer, said she is looking forward to making the best out of her new position.

With the five new officers elected to represent Mungano, Dissassa said she could not have asked for a better group of leaders.

“I think we are going to work extremely well together throughout the year and am happy that we got two new offices to fill – public relations and history,” she said. “Overall, I am just really excited to be a part of Mungano and look forward to having a lot of new events to take place next fall.”
