While some presidents will take over at the start of the second semester, others have already taken over.
Junior Andy Kelley took over from senior Paul Eltschinger as the president of Kappa Sigma fraternity in the middle of November.
“I’m just looking forward to being able to … carry out the vision that I have for the house and fix things that are problems and just deal with them and help in areas that we need help in and just do all the things that I’ve envisioned doing over the last couple of years,” Kelley said.
Delta Delta Delta sorority members elected junior Sierra Wallace as their new president. Wallace will replace senior Courtney Chambers.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all,” Wallace. “I’m just really excited and I guess I’m a little nervous, too, but I feel confident in myself.”
Junior Callie Paquette will serve as the Alpha Chi Omega sorority president, and junior Alyssa Paul was elected for Zeta Tau Alpha.
For the fraternities, Delta Tau Delta members elected junior Mike Hobbs, who will replace the current president, senior Reno Marical.
“(My goals are) just keeping the house in good standings, making sure that we get everything done,” Hobbs said. “We have the highest grades on campus, just making sure we try and follow those same expectations, and just kind of expanding and going forth. Keeping us on board for the future and keeping this a good house.”
Hobbs said as the president, his duties will include making sure all the members’ information is in, being in charge of meetings at the house, taking care of problems at the house, and “basically everything in and around the house.”
Grant Sundbye was elected as Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity’s new president. Sophomore Ben Sobek will take over the presidency for Zeta Chi fraternity.
Each chapter’s presidents all have hopes of making an impact and strengthening their chapter.
“I think I would just like to keep working on our sisterhood and really let us get back to the basic values and traditions of our sorority,” Wallace said.
