With the NCAA tournament over, the past week of TV has been pretty unbearable.
Aside from watching reruns of “Golden Girls,” “Frasier” and “Gilmore Girls,” I’ve been spending a lot of my free time doing the unthinkable – homework.
Luckily, Sunday turned that all around when “Desperate Housewives” hit the air at 8 p.m. The wonderful show featuring the women of Wisteria Lane began the return of the shows the world had been missing for months upon months. Damn that writer’s strike.
Around the first of April, I could see some of my shows start trickling back on air. Yes, I had missed “Criminal Minds” and “CSI: New York,” but I was really waiting for a certain five. That special five that never fail to get me through the week: “Desperate Housewives,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Private Practice,” “Dirty Sexy Money” and, of course, “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Unfortunately, I was sad to hear that “Private Practice” and “Dirty Sexy Money” wouldn’t be back until next fall, but I suppose three out of the five isn’t bad, for now.
I felt like I was being tortured when I heard “Grey’s” would be the last of my shows to return but was slightly comforted when I found out that “Desperate Housewives” would be the first.
If you missed “Desperate Housewives,” now is the time to skip down four paragraphs.
When thinking about everything that happened before the break on “Desperate Housewives,” I couldn’t help but get excited to think about what was to come. It seemed like the tornado that demolished Wisteria Lane had left lives and the town turned upside down. So, I was surprised to see that the street and everyone’s houses were in tip-top shape, but what can you do? It’s television.
However, there was one thing that I definitely wasn’t prepared for. We had seen a fence post kill the mayor and knock Carlos out, but who would have thought that Carlos would be left permanently blind? I sure didn’t see that one coming. My heart definitely did go out to him and Gabby when they got married with him still in the hospital. I’m not going to lie; I got a little teary-eyed. It was just so sweet. Something tells me, though, that Carlos is going to get his sight back, but not tell Gabby because she’ll be taking such good care of him. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but when I saw Susan’s cousin in bed with Katherine and found out that she had slept with him years ago when he was only 16, the word “scandalous” came to mind. I mean, the woman has just separated from her husband and, from what the ending showed, is still caught up in a little mess she buried.
Bree and Lynette definitely gave the audience something to chuckle about as they bickered about their involvement in church, and Edie’s conniving little self made me hate her even more.
When 9 p.m. rolled around, I was sad to see the show end, but the previews for next week made up for it.
Of course, now I’m wondering about “Brothers & Sisters,” which starts Sunday. Is Nora really going to move in with Isaac? Are Tommy and Julia really OK? And are Robert and Kitty really going to have a baby? Time will only tell.
My main questions, however,
