From elementary through high school, I spent more time at church than I did anywhere else.
As freshman year started last August, I hoped and prayed this would not change just because I was in college.
Baker is everything I hoped it would be and more.
Now, starting my sophomore year, it is good to know that Baker University offers so many opportunities to be involved in Christian activities and programs on campus for fellowship and support.
Students have the choice whether to participate or not, but for me these Christian groups have helped me stay true to myself while enjoying my college experience.
Some of the programs that one would recommend for students who desire to participate in Christian organizations are Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Baker Ambassadors, bible studies and chapel.
I make an effort to attend as many of these groups as possible because support during one’s Christian walk is very important.
Without the support of my Christian friends on campus, I do not know how my college experience would be, especially if I had chosen to attend a school other than Baker.
Sure, other schools have the same programs to an extent, but had I chosen a different school, my faith would not be what it is today.
Though I do not attend church on Sunday, there are still ways to keep a Christian walk alive without losing a homework day or stressing out.
Trust me, it can be done. All it takes is determination to walk the journey.
There are certain times during each day that I get away from everything to think about the day that God has given me and the events of the day.
Even if a person calls himself or herself not religious, taking time away from a busy and crazy college schedule is a good idea for relieving stress.
No matter what, everyone faces stress.
A verse that always helps me when I am in the middle of an all-nighter or freaking myself out before a test is Jeremiah 29:11; “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
