The Baker University men and women’s tennis teams came back from a full weekend of matches.
Both sides competed in Salina in a two-day tournament against NCAA Division II and other NAIA schools.
“Last year when we went to this tournament, we hardly had any wins at all,” head coach Joe Ahmadian said. “But this year we won just as many as we lost.”
The men’s team competed well in the lower draws. Sophomore Jarrod Altenborg and freshman doubles partner Ryan Gleue won the doubles consolation bracket of their draw.
Freshman Nick Baker played in the No. 1 spot for the Wildcats, and despite winning a lot of games, came away with no match wins.
On the women’s side, Ahmadian said the Wildcats came back with some good wins.
Junior Danielle Griggs and senior Brie Lowrey won a few of their doubles matches and Lowrey won a singles match.
Freshman Peyton Edmonds played in the No. 1 spot for the women but came away with no wins, although Ahmadian noted she played well.
