The No. 22 Baker University football team had a chance to position itself for a conference title with a victory over No. 6 Missouri Valley College Saturday, but the Vikings had other thoughts.
Missouri Valley handed the Wildcats their worst loss of the season by defeating Baker 38-7 in Marshall, Mo. The Vikings shut out the ‘Cats until the final two minutes when MVC turned the ball over in its own territory to set up a touchdown pass from junior Sam Vossen to junior Kyle Bolton.
The Wildcats had an opportunity to get on the scoreboard first on their opening drive, but freshman Andrew Kimrey was unable to convert from 41 yards out. The Vikings then scored on the ensuing drive, which was capped off by a touchdown run from freshman Nijel Daw.
BU will look to bounce back against another tough opponent in No. 8 MidAmerica Nazarene University at 1 p.m. Saturday at Liston Stadium. Baker is 3-2 overall on the season with a record of 2-2 in the HAAC.
