One member of the Baker University Board of Trustees will be writing a check to a lucky member of the Baker community for the amount of $1,000.
BOT member, Jared Grantham, is sponsoring a contest to name Baker’s Liberal Studies program.
“We need the students’ input more than anyone else because they are the ones studying the program,” Erin Joyce, interim dean of Liberal Studies, said. “If the title does not speak to the student or prospective students, then it will not be effective.”
Entries for the contest are due at 4 p.m. Nov. 22 and will be reviewed by the Liberal Studies Advisory Committee. The finalists will then be reviewed by a committee of faculty, students and staff.
“The $1,000 reward would make me want to participate in the contest,” sophomore Chelsea Bruner said. “A chance to make a difference to Baker and win some cash is a win-win situation.”
The advisory committee got its inspiration for the naming contest from Hendrix College in Conway, Ark.
