Members of the Baker University mass media department were rewarded for their multimedia work at the 90th annual Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Advisers National College Media Convention Oct. 26-30 in Orlando, Fla.
Alumna Geneviève Des Marteau, sophomore Xiomara Nunez and Baker Orange managing editor Meagan Thomas placed fifth in the multimedia news story of the year category with their project about the Baldwin City USD 348 consolidation, “Moving On.”
Baker Orange online editor Marlee Johnson and alumnae Mary Loveland and Chelsea Tweitmeyer received an honorable mention for their multimedia news project, “Going Green @ BakerU.”
Also receiving an honorable mention was Johnson and alumna Reina Murphy for their multimedia sports project, “BU Wrestling.”
In addition to individual awards, the website, www.thebakerorange.com, was awarded ninth place Best of Show at the convention.
“There (were) a lot of helpful sessions, and there (were) a lot of sessions … our program is really up-to-speed in those categories,” Nunez said.
