The Baker University bowling team will host a fundraiser to help the team go to sectionals and the NAIA Championships.
“People should come out and support Baker,” head coach Cheryl Keslar said. “It’s only a few hours out of your day, and it’s really fun.”
The fundraiser will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence.
“Last year had 18 teams,” Keslar said. “We are hoping to have a lot of teams this year.”
There are five players per team. The fee is $50 per team or $10 per player. Each team will bowl three games before a step-ladder tournament. Every game will be bowled Baker style, meaning each player bowls two of the 10 frames.
“The winning team will get to bowl against the Baker bowling team,” Keslar said.
The winning team will also receive trophies.
“(It’s a) good way to get family and friends involved,” sophomore Brittany Barker said. “Anyone is welcome. The team would enjoy the support.”
Participants will also have an opportunity to win in a raffle drawing. Prizes will vary and include a stereo.
Barker said the tournament is an exciting way to draw interest in the bowling team on campus and in the community.
