The 79-77 overtime win for the Baker University men’s basketball team over Ottawa University was far from the 70-42 victory over the Braves Nov. 12, but for Baker, it was a win nonetheless.
“(Ottawa) came out really flat against us in our first meeting,” head coach Brett Ballard said. “They played with a little more of a spark tonight, so it was more them than us.”
The Wildcats were led by junior Jordan Honore who scored a team-high 18 points.
Monday’s win comes just two days after the ‘Cats defeated Bethany College 63-62 by knocking down a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
“Well, I think in both of the games, there was kind of a lid on the basket,” Ballard said. “We had some stretches where we missed some shots that we normally make. It’s good to see the guys fight through that and not be affected by offensively how we are playing. I thought we were tough enough to get some big stops and made some plays down the stretch.”
Baker will play an exhibition game against Fort Hays State University at 3 p.m. Friday in Hays before the open up conference play against Avila University Dec. 1 in Collins Center.
