The Baker University women’s basketball team had a tough task in attempting to give Columbia College (Mo.) its first loss of the season Tuesday, but the Cougars were too much to handle for the Wildcats as they defeated BU 87-66.
The Wildcats had five players score in double figures, led by senior Rae Lynne Stewart and junior Alisha Fanshier with 14 points apiece, but the remaining players on the BU roster recorded a combined seven points.
The Cougars had a balanced offensive performance with nine players scoring more than five points, led by Kayla Rice and Heather English scoring 17 points each.
Baker fell to 1-8 on the season after the loss to the 7-0 Cougars. BU will have a nine-day layoff before playing its Heart of America Athletic Conference opener against Avila University Dec. 1 in Collins Center.
The Eagles enter the matchup with a record of 4-2 and defeated the Wildcats in both games the teams played last season.
