After finishing the break with its first two top 10 performances in school history, the Baker University bowling team bounced back with another strong outing at the Blue and Gold Classic Saturday and Sunday.
The Wildcats placed 14th out of the 44 teams that were competing, with four bowlers placing in the top 100 in their first tournament in nearly a month.
Junior Caitlin Campbell led the way by finishing 16th out of 287 bowlers. Freshmen Carly Schmidtlein and Brittany Barker and sophomore Emily Buhler rounded out the Wildcats who placed in the top 100.
BU finished ahead of NCAA Division I teams such as Purdue University, the Ohio State University, University of Kansas and University of Illinois.
Keslar said Baker started off the season slowly, but has been rededicated and refocused since competing in Las Vegas.
The team’s next tournament is McKendree-Baker Challenge on Feb. 4-5 in Fairview Heights, Ill.
“Some of the bigger teams that we have always looked up to are starting to look at us and are realizing our improvement,” junior Chloe Mercer said. “It’s a cool feeling.”
