The registration deadline for Baker University’s Up ’til Dawn event, to be hosted March 23, is Thursday.
Up ’til Dawn is a national collegiate program that raises funds and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Brett Bruner, director of student life, said the event first appeared on Baker’s campus four years ago in an effort to “help find a cure for cancer through the work of St. Jude.”
A table will be set up in the Harter Union lobby beginning Monday to provide students the opportunity to register.
“Students can register a variety of ways,” Bruner said. “Throughout this next week, we will (have a table) every day in the union lobby. They can also contact the office of student life for information about how to register … or there’s online registration as well.”
Although registration numbers have been low up to this point, the Up ’til Dawn executive board is hopeful students will continue to sign up.
While Thursday is the deadline, it is not the final day to register for the event.
“They can register after March 1,” Bruner said. “March 1 is our goal that we set for ourselves to get an initial count so we know how many letters to order, how much food to plan on and things like that.”
To register, students must find a team of five people to participate.
“Students can match up with people who are friends, members of an organization (or) teammates,” Bruner said. “Or if they can’t find a team, they can contact us and we can put them on a team.”
