Students visit BU Saturday for tours

Forty-six prospective students visited the Baker University campus Saturday as part of a junior visit day put on by the admission department. The high school juniors, along with their parents, attended the day in hopes of experiencing Baker at an early stage of deciding on a college, said Louise Cummings-Simmons, vice president of admissions.

Murals explained by speaker

On Tuesday, students and faculty found solace from the cold rain at a presentation detailing Irish murals that took place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Mabee 100.? The presentation, titled "Widening the Frame: The Politics of Representing Northern Irish Murals," was delivered by Kathryn Conrad, an associate professor at the University of Kansas.

Baker University students staying in Baldwin City for the summer will need a place to live, and students are looking on campus and off. One option is to make arrangements to stay on campus. The number of students interested in living in the apartments for the summer has grown from 12 students last year to 30 students this year.

As the sun set over Rice Auditorium Monday night, members of greek houses and independents alike went crazy over scantily clad candidates vying for the title of Mr. BU. Monday evening in Rice Auditorium. The moon, and perhaps the audience, grew hazy Wednesday as members of greek organizations gave their best lip-synced impersonations of famous rockers and rollers.

On Monday, thousands of people joined in a mass protest against potential tightened immigration laws. The participants stayed home from school and work, and many took to the streets to make their opinion known. According to the New York Times, one Chicago high school had only 17 percent attendance.
