Griffin’s overtime goal leads ‘Cats to tournament final
The Baker University men’s soccer team is headed to the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship after taking down Benedictine College, 2-1.

The Wildcats traveled to Atchison on Tuesday for the semifinal game, which ended in overtime on a goal by senior Andy Griffin.
Baker’s first goal came from senior Richard Klein in the 33rd minute of the game. Senior Ben Coyle sent the ball forward to Klein, who launched it home to the back of the net.
The game was tied during the second half when senor Shemaiah Davis attempted to head the ball out of bounds and accidentally sent it into Baker’s own goal instead.
Griffin’s goal came off his head just three minutes into overtime after he received a pass from senior Cameron Zimmerman.
BU outshot the Ravens 13-7 on the night, and senior Matt Bickley recorded four saves between the pipes.
The Wildcats will face MidAmerica Nazarene University in the championship game at 1 p.m. on Friday in Olathe.
During the regular season, Baker fell to MNU 2-1 in double overtime on the Pioneers’ home field.
