Men’s soccer loses first conference match
The No. 4 men’s soccer team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end Saturday in the NAIA Game of the Week against No. 7 ranked Missouri Valley College. This loss drops the Wildcats to 13-2-1 overall and 7-1-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Baker couldn’t generate offense in Saturday’s match. Senior Keaton Anchors led them with two shots and only one of those on goal. The Wildcats put up only four total shots on the night.
On the defensive end for Baker, Missouri Valley put up a total 20 shots with 11 on goal. Baker junior goalkeeper Ryan Emme had a tough night of work between the pipes with eight saves.
The single goal in the game was scored by Missouri Valley’s Juan Carlos Heras in the 67th minute. This is only the eighth goal the Wildcats have allowed all year.
With this loss, Baker is now tied in second place with No. 13 ranked MNU in the Heart standings. Missouri Valley sits alone at first with an 8-1-0 conference record.
Baker will battle it out with MNU for the second place spot in the Heart on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 3:30 p.m. in Olathe, Kansas.
