International Women’s Day is much more than just a date on the calendar. Celebrated every year on March 8, began in the early 1900s as a movement to recognize women’s achievements and stand for equality. It’s a day for the world to take a second and look at all the women who have shaped our lives. It’s a day to recognize the teachers who encourage and teach children. It’s a day for the doctors and nurses who mend and heal our society. It’s for the women in active service, risking their lives to protect ours. It’s for every woman who wakes up each day, ready to lead with bravery and confidence.
Today isn’t just a “pause and reflect” day. It’s a day of celebration. A day of women supporting women. A day of moms cheering on their daughters. A day of friendship and love.
International Women’s Day reminds us that leadership and encouragement don’t always have to be loud to be seen. Waking up, showing up, and giving it your all can be proof. We are grateful for the women who have poured into our lives – mothers, grandmothers, aunts, neighbors, friends, coaches, teachers, mentors, pastors, and any other woman who has left a lasting impact.
Today is a day to encourage a female. Text your mom, sister, aunt, grandma, or any female in your life and tell them why you are thankful for their positive influence on your life! Now it is up to us, the next generation of women, to pass on the love and courage they sacrificed to teach us.
“Happiness and confidence are the prettiest things you can wear.” -Taylor Swift.
