Men’s soccer makes big win

Baker kept its conference tournament hopes alive by defeating Avila University Saturday.

The Wildcat men’s soccer team beat Avila 5-0 on the road in the second-to-last game of the regular season.

Baker took a three-goal lead into halftime before scoring two second half goals. Junior Matt Germain led the team with two goals. Sophomore Jacob Chiarelli and juniors Matt Abbott and Kome Okiomah also scored in the match for the Wildcats.

In the last non-conference game of the season, Baker fell to Columbia College 2-1 in double overtime.

Senior Micah Nelson scored the only goal of the game for the Wildcats. Baker outshot Columbia 18-10. Thirteen of Baker’s shots were shots on goal. This was Baker’s third double overtime game this season.

The Wildcats will take on Lindenwood University Tuesday in the conference tournament.
