The Baker men’s and women’s golf teams competed in difficult weather conditions Monday and Tuesday at Indian Foothills Golf Course in a two-day, 36-hole tournament hosted by Missouri Valley College.
The men’s team took its top five golfers and was led by senior Gavin Tatrn with rounds of 79 and 80. Tatrn was one of five golfers to shoot under 80 for Monday’s round.
Head golf coach Karen Exon was discouraged with the team’s overall performance, but thinks the team will improve with more practice.
“They need to do a better job of managing themselves on the golf course when they get into trouble, but we’ll work on that this week,” Exon said.
The women's team finished second despite only being able to take four golfers due to illness and injury. Sophomore Stacy Yowell led the team with two rounds of 88, which was good enough for fourth place overall and a spot on the all-tournament team.<br/>&#160;
