Every athlete wants to start the season or preseason with a bang! Gavin Dines has done just that as he has started the 2025 fall preseason by being named Heart Men’s Golfer of the Week two weeks in a row. Starting his junior year and already being named Player of the Week twice, Dines wants to continue that momentum from now on into the season.
“I’m generally a slow starter to the season. So being able to kick it off with a good event and getting player of the week has been cool. I just hope that I can build off of that and know that I’ve got the skills and I’m playing well enough right now that I can continue to play and try and collect some more of them.” Dines said. Being named Heart Player of the week two weeks back-to-back, having won Heart Men’s Golf Player of the Year, and Individual conference champion last year, Dines is showing his level of confidence to everyone else.
While Dines is grateful for the recognition that he has gotten, he won’t let himself think that every tournament is an automatic win. He has the mindset of taking it tournament by tournament and shot by shot, focusing only on what he can control but leaving it all out on the course.
With the golf season getting off to a great start, you can show support by watching in person or online. Be on the watch, especially in the spring, for when they compete closer to home. You can catch them next October 13th and 14th at the Virginia McCoy Invite, The National Golf Club in Parkville, MO. Congrats to Gavin and the rest of the team as they continue with their season.
